Jennifer Garner Reveals Being A Hollywood Mum Can Sometimes Have Its Pitfalls

JG1Jennifer Garner has revealed that being a Hollywood mum can sometimes have its pitfalls — especially when trying to teach her children that every person is just as equal and as important as each other — regardless of social status. Speaking to Yahoo Parenting, she said:

“The hardest part is other kids talking to my children when we aren’t around. Like, ‘It’s so cool your dad’s being Batman’ and trying to control how much that inflates the idea that one person is more important than another. [My husband I] really work to manage that idea — that just because people react a certain way to us, it doesn’t mean we’re more important than anyone else. And [the kids] are pretty quick to cut us back down to size.”

The actress shares her three children — Violet Anne, 9, Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, 6, and Samuel, 3 — with husband Ben Affleck and says starting a family is like getting to know each other all over again.

“You just go on a ride together because you don’t know who you’re going to be when you first have a baby and you don’t know who [your partner] is going to be. You have to just hang in there while you figure it out — and have a lot of patience for each other.”

She’s just started a craft line called We Made It with Joann-Fabric and Craft Stores and says it’s an activity she often likes to get involved in with the children.

“I don’t like my kids to start the day with TV, so we [play with the kits] on Saturday mornings.”

Autumn Phillips Talks Life With Savannah and Isla

APWith the nation still celebrating the birth of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, 17 days, Autumn Phillips — wife of Peter Phillips and mum of Savannah Anne Kathleen, 4, and Isla Elizabeth, 3 — gave an insight of what it’s like having two children so close in age and, from her own experience, what it was like welcoming siblings in to the family.

When Isla was born, Savannah had just turned 15 months. I don’t think she really noticed at first there was another baby. She just wanted to run around and tear the place apart.

It’s when they get older it gets tricky. They learn to share by fighting each other off. I have an older brother, a twin brother and a half-brother and sister so I know what it’s like. But siblings are a gift.

Along with Savannah, Isla and Princess Charlotte, Queen Elizabeth II also has two other great-grandchildren — Mia Grace, 16 months, and Prince George Alexander Louis, 21 months. With 4 out of 5 of them being girls — Prince George is outnumbered for the time being. Says Autumn:

There are a lot of girls in the family now. Poor little George — he’s going to be surrounded by bossy little ladies. But when they all get together again, it’ll be a blast.

Kate Silverton Talks About The Emotional and Psychological Effect Welcoming Son Wilbur In To The Family Had On Daughter Clemency

KSWelcoming a new baby in to the family is always a joyous occasion and while welcoming son Wilbur, 10 months, was a joyous event for presenter Kate Silverton and her husband Mike Heron — it didn’t prepare her for the effect it would have on her relationship with her now 3 year-old daughter Clemency Florence Rose.

“I couldn’t have been prepared for the amount of love I felt for my little boy, having been so overwhelmingly in love with my daughter.

“I wasn’t prepared to feel so protective of him – sometimes even at the expense of my daughter’s feelings. Neither was I prepared for the guilt I would feel at spending my time trying to be the same sort of mother to Wilbur as I was to Clemency.

For Clemency — having to share her parents with a younger sibling was a hard adjustment and often resulted in several temper tantrums.

She had more tantrums than ever before – when they can’t express their feelings verbally, a child will typically resort to physical expression: screaming, crying or, in some cases, hitting. My patience was stretched at times and I found myself saying “no” to her more often than I should.

Claudia Winkleman Opens Up About Daughter Matilda’s Horrific Accident

Claudia Winkleman has spoken for the first time about the terrible accident that happened to daughter Matilda Martha on Halloween 2014. The 8 year old was out trick and treating with her mum and several friends when the outfit she was wearing went up in flames — causing severe burns on her leg.

“It was like those horrific birthday candles that you blow out and they come back. It was really fast, it was fast, it wasn’t fire like I’d seen.”

The incident occurred after the outfit Matilda was wearing — a witch outfit with a hat, cape, skirt and tights — brushed past an open flame and was instantly set alight. It was only thanks to the quick actions of Claudia’s neighbour  Jamie Poulton whopicked her up and lifted her over the children, got her on the pavement and tried to put her out,” that her injuries weren’t more severe and stopped the fire spreading towards her friends. He also suffered second degree burns to his hand.

“I was talking to somebody and then I heard her shout and she was on fire. It feels like she was on fire for hours, but the surgeon said it was probably just seconds. She went up is the only way I know how to describe it – it was a spark and she screamed out for me.”

Alyssa Milano Juggles Motherhood and Work But Has Learnt To Deal With The Guilt

AMBeing a working mum can sometimes be a juggling act for actress Alyssa Milano, who is mum to children Milo Thomas, 3, and Elizabella Dylan, 8 months, with husband David Bugliari Speaking to Yahoo! Parenting, she said:

“It’s hard to juggle everything. Every day is a process and a balancing act, but I try to take everyday as it comes. My schedule is sporadic, which is good because it allows me some real quality time with my kids. When I have business to attend to, I’m always aware that I need to get home as soon as possible or I feel guilty.

Although she does feel guilty because of her sometimes heavy work load, the 42-year old says she has come to terms with the feeling and where it comes from — thanks to therapy.

“I have learned, through a lot of therapy, that a lot of guilt is pre-wired in a woman’s being. I think if you go back to the caveman days, we are wired to not want to be away from our young because they didn’t have caretakers then. They didn’t have nannies. We needed to keep our offspring safe, and I don’t think we’ve evolved out of that. We still have the biological urge to be with our kids, and to know that the guilt is coming from some place biological, it helps. You realize, ‘oh, this instinct makes total sense.’ I think the same goes for dads. I hear friends complain that their husbands work even more now than before they had kids, and it’s because they’re hard-wired to want to provide.”

Miranda Kerr Talks About The Importance of Manners And Being Amicable With Ex Orlando Bloom

If there’s one thing Miranda Kerr wants to instil in to son Flynn Christoper, 4, it’s manners. Speaking on the Kyle and Jackie O Show, she said:

‘What’s important to me is manners – so if he asks for something and he doesn’t say “please”, I make him say it.”

The model also revealed that despite living in America, it’s dad Orlando Bloom who Flynn follows when it comes to his accent. Although, he does have some Australian characteristics from her too.

‘People comment that he sounds quite English – maybe it’s because of Orlando.

“I remember one day when Orlando came back home (it was a couple of years ago) and Flynn said “G’day mate!” – so there’s a bit of Australian in him.”

And despite splitting with Flynn’s dad in 2013, the 32-year-old told says the pair of them have remained amicable for the sake of their son — so much so that they live across the street from one another.

“Orlando and I live across the street from each other and it kind of felt better for Flynn that way.”

Emma Bunton is an Embarrassing Mum

EBWhen your a working mum it can often mean that you can’t do the daily school runs yourself because of the timings of your job. For Spice Girl Emma Bunton, hers is no different. She’s unable to do mornings because she’s one half of Heart FM‘s breakfast show with co-host Jamie Theakston. However, she is grateful that the early 6am start means she is able to at least be there to pick up sons Beau Lee, 7, from school and Tate Lee, 4, from nursery. Speaking to Essentials magazine, she said:

“I’m lucky that I work in the mornings, so generally I’m home in time to pick up Tate from nursery, then go to get Beau from school.”

But the 39-year old admits her over-enthusiastic demeanour at the school gates doesn’t go down too well with Beau — who finds his mum embarrassing.

“I literally grab them and squeeze them and kiss them. Beau’s only seven and he’s already like, ‘Eurgh Mum, get off!’”

“But I can’t help myself. I know it’s probably going to have to stop soon, so I’m making the most of it while I can.

Former Royal Correspondent Jennie Bond Says Princess Diana Would Have Been a “very hands on” Grandmother

JBWith the nation in full swing baby fever after the birth of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, one person who would have been in her element and at the centre of it all would have been the tot’s late grandmother Princess Diana — who is fondly remembered in her grand-daughter’s name.  Former royal correspondent Jennie Bond — who knew Princess Diana well — says the Princess would have been a “very hands on” grandmother. Speaking to OK! magazine, she said:

“[She] would have been doting, tactile and a very huggy granny in a way that the Queen, possibly, has never been. She would have wanted the grandchild to know normality, to be on the other side of privilege.”

Kimberley Walsh Talks About Son Bobby’s Forceps Birth, Breastfeeding and Pre-pregnancy Body

KWWhen you find out you’re pregnant you start to plan out your birthing plan — do you want a home birth? water birth? Pain relief? However, no matter how much you map it all out — sometimes the experience can be a thousand worlds apart from what you expect or want. When singer Kimberley Walsh gave birth to son Bobby Jay on September 4th 2014, her delivery was also one that wasn’t as straight forward as she’d envisioned. Speaking to Mother & Baby magazine, she said:

I opted for an epidural before he was born. It would have been absolutely horrific without one.

Bobby turned at the last minute making it virtually impossible to push him out. If I had panicked I would have ended up with a C-section and it was very touch and go.

The doctors had to use forceps to move his head down and when he came out his face was looking up at us!

Khloe Kardashian Knows What Type of Mum She Wants To Be And Dishes on Nieces Penelope and North’s Personalities

KKShe may not have any children of her own yet but that doesn’t mean Khloe Kardashian doesn’t know what type of mum she wants to be.  Speaking to Refinary29, she said:

Everyone says that when you have kids, you become crazy, so I don’t know what I’m going to be. But I’m a really fun aunt, so I hope I’m going to be a fun mom!

“I like to have fun and be silly and not take myself too seriously with the kids, so I hope that will translate when I actually have my own.”

Already aunt to sisters Kourtney and Kim‘s children – Mason Dash, 5, Penelope Scotland, 2, North West, 23 months and Reign Aston, 4 1/2 months — the 29-year-old revealed that while one of the girls is “really girly“,  the other knows exactly “what she wants.”

“P’s always really girly, while North is normally in an all black outfit. Kim recently put North in an all pink leotard and tutu, and she texted me and was like, ‘Look, I put North in pink just for you!’

“North didn’t like it — North wanted a black tutu. And, I just thought it was hysterical, because I was saying [to Kim], ‘Put the girl in some damn pink for a second!’ And, she’s like, ‘I did it for you, and she didn’t like it! I know my daughter’s personality.

“I find that so cute. North is going to be two in June, and she already knows what she wants. It’s hysterical.”

Colleen Rooney Talks Football Mum Of The Year and Sons Kai and Klay

WRHaving a professional footballer for a husband and being a mum to two boys – sons Kai Wayne, 5, and Klay Anthony, 23 months can mean that Colleen Rooney and husband Wayne [Rooney] often find it hard to have some one on one time. However, she tells the Daily Mail  that they make sure to dedicate at least one day a week to themselves.

“When we had Klay we found that we really had no time at all but then we made sure that we had that one day a week together.

“[Now that]  that we have two kids, we make sure that we have time together. We make sure that one night a week we go out for dinner or go to the cinema or something so that we have time for each other.”

When Wayne has international commitments – like for the World Cup – it means that the 29-year-old is left to look after the boys. But luckily help is always on hand from family if she needs it.

“I’ve got a great family behind me and Wayne’s family too so we’ve always got people around us – we’re not just on our own.

“We do miss him and seeing the kids’ faces when he comes back, they’re just so overwhelmed, which is nice.”

Now that 5-year-old Kai is starting to follow in his dad’s footsteps and get in to football it means that Liverpool born Colleen will be soon driving her son to and from various matches. With that in mind, she has signed up to McDonalds Football Mum of the Year  – which plans to recognise a parent’s invaluable support and dedication for their child’s football activities.

A lot of people think it’s dads who take children to football but I think it’s about time that we recognise what the mums do.

I know for Wayne, that when he knows we’re there, he gets more of a buzz. It was the same at the World Cup, obviously I wanted to take the kids for them to experience it but also to support Wayne.

The McDonalds Football Mum of the Year award will be presented at Wembley Stadium on August 2nd 2015.

Vanessa Lachey Finds it “Surreal” That She’s a Mum of Two

VLDespite welcoming her second child – daughter Brooklyn Elisabeth – back in January, Vanessa Lachey says she is still trying to get used to the fact that she’s now a mum of two. Speaking on The Today show she said:

“It’s still very surreal to me that I’m a mother of two. It’s not really hit me yet. I’m still evolving as a woman and a mother.”

However since welcoming Brooklyn and her brother Camden John, 2, with husband Nick Lachey, the model admits to becoming more empathetic. Retelling a tale she said:

“For the first time I was on an airplane [without the children] and there was a baby screaming, and I had this moment where I just wanted to go back there and hug them and hold them and love them. It was the first time I wasn’t like ‘Great, there’s a kid on a plane'”

The 34-year old is also proud spokesperson of March of Dimes – a charity that dedicates itself to researching and trying to bring an end to premature birth, infant mortality and birth defects.
